Luke 15:10 (NIV) tells us that there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

As we gathered at the river

On a lovely August day,

Each family bringing along their favorite dish

To share in celebration of the joyful occasion,

Many were reborn to a new life

In Christ.

Acts 22:16 (NIV) states, And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name.

Swimmers, boaters

And families nearby

Hardly notice the ripple

In their watery playground

From men dying to themselves

And being reborn in Christ.

At the River

My beautiful new friend

Recited some of the poetry

She wrote

And it proved to be

Far greater than her years.

I listened as she spoke

Of how things might be

If men were to put

Down their weapons

And open their hearts.

That Sunday

I met Carol

Who gave her heart

To the Lord

And was baptized

That August day

At the river.
